Letter to the editor: Officials keep sticking it to electorate

Tribune-Review

Well, another local election has come to an end, and our elected officials who ran on the promise of not raising our taxes once again are ready to stick it to us (“Tax hike stands after Westmoreland commissioners stick with budget,” Jan. 22, TribLIVE).

Actually, it seems they are going to stick it to us mostly because they don’t know how to budget their expenses.

I would like to know where they think people who live on a fixed income are supposed to come up with more money to pay for this foolishness. This crap happens every year. I, too, would like a raise, paid health care, paid expenses, etc. Will it happen? I think not.

The casinos boast about how much money they rake in, money that was supposed to lower our property taxes, but our government finds a way to spend it before that ever happens. The new casino coming to Greensburg isn’t even built yet, but you can bet our local government is already dreaming up new ways to spend that money, too.

I find it a sham that a group of elected officials constantly sticks it to the people who put them in office in the first place and after all these years still doesn’t know how to balance a budget. Amazing!
