The Pennsylvania covid-19 vaccine rollout plan laid bare deep inequalities. People in the high-risk group who qualify today and need the vaccine the most are unable to navigate the technology-driven process.

Seniors who don’t have a deep understanding of technology are expected to fast-finger-race to register when the announcement is made on social media sites like Facebook or Instagram. That’s unrealistic! How does someone who doesn’t have internet access find and register for the vaccine? Many public libraries where free computers exist are closed. Limited areas of distribution challenges those who do not have transportation.

We need to do better than this to protect the lives of those who need the vaccine the most.
