Regarding the article “Westmoreland County Sheriff won’t enforce Gov. Wolf’s new covid-19 orders” (Dec. 19, TribLIVE): Throughout this pandemic I have seen so many foolish people deny, defy and ignore the catastrophic end game that this horrible virus has brought not just to our population, but to our economy. They whine about closings and don’t wear masks.

If everyone had played by the rules the first time and listened to the scientific community instead of believing a fool who has never believed in science in any aspect, we truly would not be this deep into it again. And the fools who cried for herd immunity should have been the first ones in line to get the virus and hope that they came out the other end alive.

Now we have hospitals turning sick people away because they are overrun, and if they have enough PPE, they often don’t have the staff to take care of the seriously ill patients. People who want to ignore pleas that are not only from the governor’s office but the very people who have to put their lives on the line every day should get off their butts and volunteer to help their local hospitals and see this is no joke.

I have lost a family member, had a sister-in-law on a ventilator for 18 days and my son, a nurse on a covid unit in Philadelphia, get the virus. This is no joke. Wise up, folks.

Finally, I hope those who are anti- everything are not the first ones in line to get the vaccine.
