In times like these, it is hard to think about much else other than the ways that covid-19 continues to change our daily lives. Our normal has become watching our families and friends lose their jobs, our favorite restaurants and small businesses shutting down for good, and having to wear masks when we want to do pretty much anything. However, when things get hard at home, we often forget about those who have it worse than us.

Africa carries 23% of the global disease burden but only accounts for 1% of global health expenditure. Yet South Sudan only has four ventilators and 24 ICU beds for a population of 12 million people.

We can’t fix what is going on in the United States without recognizing the countries that are in dire need of our foreign aid dollars and supplies. Please consider donating to The Borgen Project; visit borgenproject.org for more information.
