Letter to the editor: Our national insanity

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently released a book touting his exemplary leadership during the pandemic and received an Emmy award for his viral press conferences; Hunter Biden plans to put out a memoir titled “Beautiful Things”; Black Lives Matter was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize; and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were chosen as Time Magazine’s 2020 Person of the Year. And that only scratches the surface of our national insanity.

I could understand if this was Rod Serling’s opening monologue to a new episode of his classic television series, but it’s not; it’s reality. Yes, we have entered another dimension … and it’s frightening.

We are becoming delusional from self-isolation. The glasses to correct our national myopic vision are getting fogged up from double-layering our face masks. We’re blindly following the 6-foot distancing markers into terra incognita. Our next stop, the Twilight Zone.

The past few years have exposed the inconceivable degree to which corruption and deceit have completely infected our nation. Insidious lies and disinformation from the media, politicians and business moguls are standard operating procedure. It will take an exorcism, not an election, to redeem this country.

“Truth, justice and the American way” is just the stuff of comic books. We are economically, politically, culturally, morally and spiritually bankrupt. Without divine intervention, our 250-year existence as a constitutional republic is over. The horizontally challenged lady has finally stepped up to the mic to sing.
