Letter to the editor: Pandemic shows need for smaller government

Tribune-Review

It has become clear to me that Gov. Tom Wolf intends to keep our economy hobbled with undue restrictions on private business for as long as possible, or until after the election, whichever is sooner. Was it “science based and data driven” when his administration directed vulnerable nursing homes to accept patients who had covid-19, and closed schools to children who are largely unaffected by the virus? In my opinion, this hasn’t been about the virus for months now.

With little help from Democrats in our General Assembly, it seems we have few options against this never-ending state of emergency. Few, not none.

Avoid being tested for the coronavirus, if you can. Unless needed for medical treatment, it’s of little benefit to you anyway, and the Wolf administration could use any positive test result as justification to extend the lockdown. Also, if the army of contract tracers ever materializes as planned, don’t cooperate. We should expect any McCarthy-esque named names to be ordered further isolated. Do you want to be responsible for more lost paychecks, lost time and lost freedom?

Look at the world around you. Does it bear any likeness to what the government says it is? The only signs of a pandemic are the restrictions imposed by our government.

Now we see why smaller government is needed.
