Letter to the editor: Pandemic shows socialism's ills

I believe there is a silver lining that resulted from the virus pandemic. Us soft, pampered Americans have had the benefit of actually living with some of the ills associated with socialism.

• Politicians asking fellow citizens to snitch on each other for not complying with unconstitutional rules.

• Long lines for necessities such as toilet paper.

• Anti-gouging rules that negatively impact supply-and-demand systems inherent in capitalism.

• Unemployment or nothing for those groups not favored, while favored groups such as teachers unions and state store workers get full pay with or without working.

• Use of government drones to spy on the population.

• Pushing voting by mail, which can increase voter fraud.

• Efforts to eliminate primary voting.

• Politically biased Pennsylvania Supreme Court affirming that Gov. Tom Wolf’s “rules” are constitutional.

• Suspension of the First Amendment regarding freedom of assembly and practicing of religion.

• Attempts to restrict the sale of firearms and ammunition in violation of the Second Amendment.

• Inaccurate virus death rates.

• Forced quarantines.

I am sure there are many more examples I missed.

All voters should use this time to assess which candidates and politicians are promoting socialist or communist ideals and which ones support the Constitution and free market that made the USA the greatest nation on earth.
