Letter to the editor: Parents must tell Latrobe schools to educate kids
When the Greater Latrobe School District surveyed parents earlier this year regarding a return to school after the “online learning” that ended the 2019-20 school year, a large majority said they favored a return to the the traditional brick-and-mortar model for a variety of individual reasons. I believe the number was 87% of respondents answered this way.
We’ve since put our kids in masks. We don’t let them be kids and play with their friends or even be near them. All for what? The schools are now closed. We are harming our children and jeopardizing their futures.
The next school board meeting is tonight at the high school. They apparently didn’t hear us the first time. Maybe it’s time to tell them again that we want our children educated. If our local school board continues to acquiesce to the state, our children will be sitting at home, staring at screens, for the rest of the school year.
