Letter to the editor: Parties should join together, not blame

The editorial page often includes opposing “pro Trump” letters that approve the president’s policies and results and “blame Trump” letters that attack him but offer few solutions. Many hate what he says, not what he has done.

Some letter-writers twist the president’s words out of context and echo the Democratic talking points as rattled off 24/7 on CNN and MSNBC.

Some of the political press quiz Trump with “gotcha” questions like “Can you assure us that New York will have enough ventilators by April 30?” and then use 20/20 hindsight to “prove” he didn’t keep his promises.

This press seems ill-equipped to understand the graphs, models and projections of the medical experts, and often create incorrect, sensational headlines that mislead the public.

Notice that those accusing the president of responding too slowly to the pandemic and “having blood on his hands” are the very same ones who have been trying to impeach him since 2016: Adam Schiff, Nancy Pelosi, CNN and MSNBC. It’s clear to me that their primary objective is to defeat Trump in 2020, and not just to save American lives.

Now, if ever, is the time both parties should be joining forces, not blaming our president in his efforts to defeat the coronavirus.
