Letter to the editor: Partisan demands regarding Jan. 6
Letter-writer Leonard Stanga’s “demands” have already been met, with investigations finding no wrongdoing (“Bidens, Babbitt shooting should be investigated,” June 7, TribLIVE). Repeating the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is a symptom of insanity.
As for Jan. 6, Stanga’s “demands” are extremely partisan — investigate the victims but not the violators. The police were protecting our democracy, our Capitol and themselves. Representatives, senators and aides were merely doing their jobs set forth by our 200-plus-year-old Constitution. All that went on that day, and the days previous to it, need to be investigated.
Stanga wants more partisan dirt-digging as a priority over the violent insurrection. Republicans want to bury Jan. 6 because they fear what may come to light, and I don’t mean doing nothing and standing for nothing.
We need a two-party system to work together to provide for the needs and safety of all Americans, and we’re in dangerous times when one party’s priority is only to maintain power. Stanga’s affinity for “demands” reeks of authoritarianism. Perhaps he would be happier living in Russia.
