Jan. 12, 2007, may have been the worst day in the life of every baseball fan in Pittsburgh. As they were fathered by a new principal penny-pinching owner who has justifiably earned the nickname “Bottom Line Bob.” As the fans of the once-great ball club long for change, the reigning chairman of the board continues to amass a legacy as one of the worst owners in sports.
The patience of the Pittsburgh Pirates fan base has worn thin. As fans are tired of reminiscing about the past, and long for a relevant future. They won’t be ignored forever. Like any other slumlord, if someone complains about not having heat, the slumlord simply tells you to just put on an extra pair of socks. In Bob Nutting’s case, the fan base asks for better players, and he just reminds everyone that June has a Free T-shirt Friday!
The Pirates fan base is thirsty for someone to turn their Gatorade into champagne at a season’s end.
Until then, the current operation of this team is proving that they may be able to win some battles, but “Bottom Line Bob” will never equip them to win a war.
