No matter what color the person or uniform, we all matter. It seems the news media does not agree.
The death of an innocent person is always a tragedy. If a Black criminal dies by the hand of a white policeman, it is often on the news for months and incites violence, looting and burning. If a person who is not Black dies at the hands of a policeman, it’s usually not on the news. I think the news media causes more hate than any hate group. I guess no Black policeman has ever killed a white person. Must be true — I’ve never seen it on the news. If a Black man kills a policeman, you may see it on the news once.
Everything starts at home. Love, respect, work ethic and so on. I’m proud to say that not one of my Black friends has ever been in jail. They are all honest, hard-working people. I worked for a Black friend in the Hill District and Shadyside. I never had a problem with the older Black people. But the younger Blacks would call me cracker or hunky and tell me to go home. My boss told me we leave these neighborhoods at 4 o’clock. And he’s Black.
Until the Black community starts teaching peace, respect and good work ethic, we will always have problems. It’s time to talk and protest about all the problems.
