I am voting for Katie Pecarchik for register of wills in the May primary. She is the person most qualified for this position, with 21 years experience. She gracefully returned from retirement and changed her party to Republican after the county commissioners asked her to clean up Sherry Hamilton’s disaster; she trained and hired all the staff and got all the backlog cleaned up and running smoothly.

Jon Wian took over the office in February following his nomination by Gov. Josh Shapiro. Wian had no experience in that office and was not trained for the position. I think it is disgusting that a group of Republicans are on Facebook calling her the “pretend Republican.” Not once did those few Republicans thank her for hiring and training and straightening up the mess.

Voters should vote for the candidate with most experience, the one who is qualified for the position. Pecarchik is the one who is qualified, and she is one of the most decent and nicest people you could ever know, with the morals and values one looks for in a candidate.
