Letter to the editor: Pennsylvania is No. 1

Tribune-Review

All Pennsylvania residents, please stand. It is time to salute our great legislators. Pennsylvania has received a number of awards recently. Our population is 12 million plus, and our Legislature consists of 253 members. California has a population of 39 million plus, and its legislature consists of 120 members.

The federal gas tax is 18.4 cents per gallon. The Pennsylvania gas tax is 58.7 cents per gallon. The total tax is 77.1 cents per gallon for Pennsylvania. For California, the state tax is 61.2 cents per gallon. Added to the 18.4 makes their tax total 79.6 cents per gallon. Our legislators should wake up. We do not want to be No. 2 in anything, do we?

This month, Pennsylvania received another award. Our turnpike fees have been named No. 1 in the world. Hurray for us. Our roads are rated in the top 10 of the worst in the country. Let’s strive for No. 1.

With all of the waste going on, what are our legislators worried about? They want to stop the homebound and infirm from using mail-in ballots.

The losing presidential candidate recently said that there were 200,000 more votes cast in Pennsylvania than there were registered voters. Is that right? Did those 60-plus court cases make the wrong decision? Maybe another court case would change that.
