Letter to the editor: People should be able to decide who they want to serve
What happened to our freedom? If individually owned businesses cannot decide who they want to serve, then the freedom of the owner is denied.
I’m not talking of a hospital, but individual doctors and nurses should not be compelled to provide services against their own beliefs. It’s not as though no other practitioners are available. There is always an “anything goes” Democrat willing to do anything at all. I’m not talking about life-threatening services, but elective surgeries.
It doesn’t stop in the medical field. It could be the baker, minister, computer website designer, etc. As long as there are other service providers available and the situation is not life or death, the freedom of the individual trumps the demands of the consumer.
If the government (state) rules that people cannot choose the clientele they wish to serve, then there is no separation of church (personal belief) and state. If we demand the right to choose abortion, it should apply universally, not just to termination of life.
Let’s not let another freedom be taken away.
