Regarding the article “Former Speaker Mike Turzai starts as Peoples’ general counsel” (June 16, TribLIVE): While in the state Legislature, Turzai facilitated tax breaks for the energy industry. The tax money that he gave away was desperately needed for Pennsylvania infrastructure. After Turzai gave a sweetheart deal to the companies, he was rewarded with a job at Peoples.
This revolving-door practice of switching jobs between government and industry is a major source of political corruption. Shut down the revolving door, and you go a long way in shutting down corruption. Turzai is now the poster boy for our dysfunctional Pennsylvania government.
