Letter to the editor: Petrarca best man for House seat
We sometimes forget the importance of our state and local elections, which affect our day-to-day lives.
State Rep. Joe Petrarca, a Democrat from Washington Township, is running to retain his seat. He took office in the state House on Jan. 3, 1995.
When we vote, we hire someone to work for us. Suppose you had an employee for 25 years. He showed up early, stayed late, improved your business, was honest and implemented new ideas — your business was his priority. Now someone wants his job — has no experience, no resume, no record of accomplishments, no references from former employers. Not much to offer. Is this the person running for the good of the district or for the party’s vote in Harrisburg?
People have questioned Petrarca’s expenditures. Expense allowances are controlled by the government. Over a 25-year period, he maintained three offices to serve us. If there’s a nickel in grant money out there, he’s chasing after it. He’s in Harrisburg, away from home, approximately 100 days a year. He has almost perfect attendance. He drives his own car. His expense money is well and wisely spent. I assume his opponent is not planning on taking any expense money?
If you want to see what Petrarca has done, go to ballotpedia.org — you’ll be impressed. Please vote so the best man wins.
