Letter to the editor: Pirates need to find better work ethic

Tribune-Review

Pittsburgh is an exceptional, hard-working town. We work shifts and overtime; we are known as the highest coffee consumers to get us through those long, late hours, a variety of jobs, a spectrum of skills. People show up and stay until relieved.

I think the Pirates’ ownership, management, coaches and players are a disgrace and are disrespectful to this work ethic. It’s time for the owners to sell to new owners who will recruit managers who will assemble coaches and players who are hard workers and don’t accept the Pirates as they are right now.

It’s time for civil leadership to push this, just as they could force building new stadiums and arenas for teams.

Teams that don’t succeed leave and quit. Look at the St. Louis Browns; after decades with no success, the team moved to Baltimore and became the Orioles. The Washington Senators became the Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers.
