Letter to the editor: Pittsburgh nonprofits should help city with emergency vehicles

Tribune-Review

I have a suggestion for the new mayor of Pittsburgh: There are a number of large nonprofit organizations in the city of Pittsburgh, with UPMC and AGH being two of the largest. I saw on the local news the deplorable conditions of Pittsburgh emergency vehicles, including police vehicles and ambulances, many waiting to be repaired or replaced. UPMC and AGH have made millions of dollars and pay no taxes to speak of. My suggestion is that each of them should purchase a minimum of five emergency vehicles every year to help the city of Pittsburgh in responding to emergencies.
