Letter to the editor: Pittsburgh teams paying big money to bad players

Tribune-Review

As a “youngish” man in my early 70s, I’m astounded by the amounts of money Pittsburgh sports teams pay much younger men to stink up the playing field. My message to the Pirates and Steelers is, “Hey guys, I’m right here, give me a call.” Team owners are paying tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars for players to stink. I can stink, and I can do it for much, much less than you are paying, since making money is the bottom line in sports nowadays and a hundred million doesn’t get the hits it used to.

I can strike out, err, fall on my face, let the ball hit me to get on base; I can fumble, drop passes, talk trash, start fights, whiff on tackles and much more for only a measly million a year. How can yinz say no to that? I’ll be waiting for your call. Let’s save some money n’at.
