Letter to the editor: Politicians won’t take responsibility for anything

I find it most annoying that I cannot say “Because I am unable to properly manage my income I am unable to pay my bills, and because of this you will simply have to raise my Social Security at least 32%.” Yet all of our politicians can do this (“Westmoreland commissioners blame past fiscal neglect in approving 32.5% tax hike,” Dec. 21, TribLive). And worse yet, they say “It isn’t my fault, it’s the previous administration that did this.” If that is true and provable, then they should be prosecuted or held responsible to pay the deficit. Why should a burden be placed on me (you) because someone else didn’t properly do their job?

It goes the whole way to the White House. Nobody takes responsibility for anything, but in the rare occasion something turns out well, all hands are raised as they say “I did it.”

Wake up, America. We need to stop all the name calling and blaming the other guy (girl) and make politicians do their jobs or face criminal charges. I’m not sure what charges they would be; perhaps we need a new law to cover it, but something has to be done! 32% indeed!
