Letter to the editor: Poor headline on AP Hungarian election article

The headline of an April 4 Associated Press article was “Hungary’s pro-Putin PM claims victory.” Typical AP — no facts in the article to back that up. I highly doubt that allegation.

I visited Budapest twice and talked to many people — the country/citizens are still upset about the heavy hand of the USSR in holding them hostage since World War II (until 1989) and then killing thousands of Hungarian freedom fighters in 1956.

Vladimir Putin has been a threat to all the countries that previously had the USSR’s “boot on their neck.” Why would the Trib run that headline — other than to marginalize Viktor Orban?
