Regarding the article “Armstrong County golf resort sells for $2.5M, leaving weddings, other events in limbo” (Feb. 16, TribLive): To those who started Lenape Heights Event Center & Golf Resort, a community that was a great venue for golfers to enjoy the game we truly love, I thank you. Some of the many people include the Joseph Cippel family, the board of directors and Tony Senapole.

To all of the “old guard” golfers I have had the pleasure of playing with and getting into trouble with on the course, I thank you. Some names include Stanley Roberts, Dr. Lawrence Bartosh, Gary Lightbody, Angelo Scopel, Rats Claypoole, Paul Virostek, Jim Alcibiade and Stush Gladysiewski, plus so many more who made our golfing life fun.

To all of the “new guard” of golfers — high school golf teams and all junior golfers who have attempted to learn and play — who will continue to carry golf to new heights, I thank you. I hope you don’t stop playing this frustrating game.

To all of the Lenape Heights employees who provided maintenance and support so we could enjoy the camaraderie, I thank you.

Golf at Lenape Heights has been a part of my life for over 58 years. I truly enjoyed every moment with all of my compadres, who made my cheeks sore from all of the laughing. I thank you. Hangover included!

It is sad to see Lenape Heights go. It doesn’t mean we quit playing and drinking and laughing. We, the golfers, will continue to make sure golf never dies.
