There are always new exciting discoveries in the world today. They promise to solve problems or speed up the process of information and make life easier. It sounds good, but nobody questions the possible bad use of it. Anything can be misused.

I take an eclectic view of new things. Some old ideas still are good and worth keeping. Some new ideas do improve the quality of life. People who don’t get excited over every new idea are labeled “behind the times.” Maybe we are just smarter.

It is clever to offer a digital magazine or newspaper. However, they are not for everyone. I prefer a real newspaper published seven days a week. I want to turn the pages.

I had a subscription to a political magazine. It changed to a digital format. I didn’t renew. I belonged to an organiziton that sent out a complementary magazine. The magazine went digital. I didn’t renew the membership. I want to turn the pages and hold it.

I do understand that some people prefer digitally printed material. However, some of us do not. It is not a matter of money. Why can’t we have a combination of old and new together?
