Producing carbon fiber is a very polluting process, almost as bad as lithium for batteries or ethanol for gas, not quite as bad as solar cells. (Look it up, but don’t Google it: Check DuckDuckGo for a partial list of Google’s data partners.) All four of these “alternative” sources depend on using only clean water for processing, adding chemicals to the plastic fiber/microbead and glycophosphate pollution that has cut insect and bird numbers.
Then, Texas windmills froze up, so they will probably follow the Nordic system of vampiring other sources to heat the leading edges. They claim the 13% lost wasn’t really to blame, but most power systems only have a 5% to 10% cushion, so they certainly didn’t help. Solar cells produce maximum power around 70°F, dropping off quickly above/below that (and zero at night.) Look up cigarette lighter fires concerning LI-ion battery failures.
