I find myself at odds on many occasions with columnist Joseph Sabino Mistick, except on the subject of progressives (“Progressivism killing the party, the city,” Feb. 23, TribLive).

They are mortally wounding my Democratic Party. They are against all that makes our country great and our society function. All my true Democrats want is a fair shot to earn their way through this life. 2nd Thessalonians 3:10: “lest ye work thou shall not eat.” True Democrats love our country warts and all, because without the sovereignty and spark of liberty and freedom, all the social window dressings would vanish.

Progressives believe that everyone must be exactly the same. Controlling our lives so the outcome is the same for all. Sound a lot like the SS of World War II. Everyone is not 6 feet tall with blue eyes. Now they hide behind the protection of the Democrats. Give everything (want) to everyone and let someone else pay the price (class envy). They have been hiding among the Democrats and scholarly elites since before FDR.
