As I watched the July 4 celebration at our nation’s Capitol, I was struck with the contrast between two events. Jan 6, 2021, saw a violent mob bent on destroying our democracy; July 4, 2024, saw a peaceful gathering celebrating our democracy. These two events are metaphors, reminding us of two choices as we go to the polls on Nov. 4: democracy or dictatorship.

If you think the word dictatorship is extreme, I urge you to become acquainted with Project 2025. This is a meticulous plan put forth by the Heritage Foundation, including some former Trump administration officials, backed by some very wealthy and powerful people, to radically alter our system of government by granting almost limitless power to the president and limited power to the masses.

Greater minds than mine have warned of the danger. Wake up and smell the roses, folks; ignorance and apathy are a threat to any democracy.
