Letter to the editor: Propaganda about Zelensky
I’m vexed about a book I picked up at the library, “The Showman,” by Simon Shuster. I wonder if that’s the author’s real name. The book appears to be a sweetheart story and is very flattering toward Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Vladimir Putin is a brutalitarian, true enough, but is everyone convinced Zelenskyy is the cat’s pajamas?
Before the war began, Zelenskyy should have surrendered, capitulated, resigned and moved someplace nice, like Las Vegas. I believe Zelenskyy is a narcissist and has used atrocious judgment.
My suspicion is that the U.S. government hopes to allow the war to deplete Russia’s resources and hence pose less threat to the United States. It looks like the U.S. is giving Ukraine enough aid to sustain warfare, and not enough to win the war. The book may be intended to sweeten public opinion about Zelenskyy and the war. It shouldn’t have started. The book is propaganda.
Zelenskyy was a comedian and media personality before becoming president of Ukraine. The situation is not funny, and I’m not enjoying the show. It’s gruesome.
