Letter to the editor: Protect children from adult material
In regard to the Hempfield Area School District book policy, I’ll use Eden as my high school parable — Voice of Westmoreland (VOW) is the serpent and Moms for Liberty (MFL) are Adam and Eve. VOW seems to want to allow adult material in an under-18 environment.
MFL and parents have a duty to protect their children. Minors should not be exposed to sexual content in high school.
At school board meetings, parent Greg Myer said, “Ideally, you’d publish the material someplace like the newspaper. But no newspaper would ever publish some of the things in these books,” and parent Paula Cinti said, “This is not about censorship or banning books. This is all about the responsible age-appropriate resource selection for the well-being of our student body.”
Like the serpent, VOW seems to want to corrupt at the earliest possible age, knowing that what is learned first is remembered longest and that if you control the youth, you control the future. You cannot unsee what is seen, and it is stored in the subconscious waiting for a trigger.
On display here are the differences between R’s and D’s. Conservatives have morals and hold on to valued traditions. In my opinion, nothing is too perverse for the left. Next, they’ll want Playboy in the school library.
Keep your children in Eden as long as possible, because, by the time they graduate college, they will have fallen and become liberal.
