Letter to the editor: Protesters' actions in Pittsburgh worrisome

Tribune-Review

Can I sit outside a restaurant in the ‘Burgh and enjoy dinner and/or a drink on Penn Avenue? Maybe not after seeing video on Fox News that showed protesters harassing restaurant patrons sitting near sidewalks and streets (“Pittsburgh police seek information about confrontations between protesters, public from weekend,” Sept. 7, TribLIVE). Some actually took drinks off tables and drank them — to the dismay of innocent patrons trying to enjoy the evening.

Has pressure been put on Mayor Bill Peduto to take steps to arrest those involved? Does Pittsburgh need to be included in the group of cities (Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis and others) that should be avoided in the future? Doesn’t the liberal-leaning government there worry about visitors coming into the city?

I for one will not attend Steelers football games in Pittsburgh. Nor will I visit theaters, restaurants and cultural events down the road. Nor will I recommend family from outside Pennsylvania visit the city.

Regardless of the outcome of the upcoming election, I think Pittsburgh is likely to deteriorate along with many other liberal-run cities in the country.
