Sunday was a breath of fresh air. A protest was held in downtown Greensburg, and went as smoothly as anyone could have hoped for.
It was a beautiful day to share in a plea for change, for justice. Peaceful, inclusive and understanding.
Standing in the center of the city, listening to the honks and shouts of support as cars drove through, was inspiring and brought a smile to my face.
A man dressed to the nines in a suit held an American flag proudly at the front of the protesters. A rallying cry was heard from street to street.
Shortly after, the group relocated to St. Clair Park, where they lay face-down with their hands behind their backs to commemorate the memory of George Floyd and what he might have been feeling in his final moments.
For the final five minutes, everyone was asked to lie in complete silence. The only sounds to be heard were the gentle wind and the occasional passing car. I stood there stunned, unable to even capture a photo during these amazing few moments. What a powerful message. It was a beautiful sight to behold after the events that unfolded over the weekend.
We may be a small town, but we have a loud voice.
On May 31 we started peaceful and stayed peaceful.
Happy to have been a part of this and witness something so wonderful. Honored to be able to serve and be a part of this amazing community.
