Letter to the editor: Proving election fraud difficult

When at the Constitutional Convention, Benjamin Franklin was asked if we had a republic or monarchy and replied, “A republic, if you can keep it,” he probably was not thinking of election fraud. But I believe that’s exactly what happened during the recent presidential election.

Hundreds of sworn affidavits possessed by the Trump legal team can’t all be lies. Unfortunately, proving that election fraud was extensive enough to overturn the results is difficult, and the courts seem unwilling to intervene.

If mail-in balloting is allowed to become the norm, I think the Democratic Party will be happy to engage in election fraud. This, combined with the steady movement of Democrats, big tech and much of the media to the left will eventually render the U.S. a one-party nation. While not a monarchy, it has the real possibility of morphing into an authoritarian state, and the republic will be lost.
