Letter to the editor: Public service is a commitment

Will she stay — or will she go? That’s a question Murrysville residents shouldn’t have to ask when choosing their local leaders. As a former eight-year Murrysville Council member, I firmly believe that public service to the community is a commitment, not a stepping stone.

In 2021, Jamie Lingg was elected to a four-year term on Murrysville Council, which was set to run through 2025. Less than halfway through that term, Lingg chose to seek another office. While it’s her right to do so, that decision raised fair questions about priorities and follow-through.

Now, Lingg is asking voters to elect her to another term on council. Before granting that request, residents should consider whether her past actions reflect the level of commitment our community deserves. Experience is valuable, but so is reliability. Ultimately, elections are about trust — and trust is built when leaders honor their word. For me, that principle makes this decision a clear one.
