Letter to the editor: Putin's puppet
Are all you Donald Trump fans ready to admit that your guy is a traitor and a Putin puppet? He praises Putin’s unprovoked and lawless invasion of Ukraine and criticizes President Biden’s response. It could be seen to be giving aid and comfort to the enemy. And make no mistake, Putin is an enemy of Western values and our way of life.
The outrageous debacle at the July 2018 Helsinki summit springs to mind. Trump came to Putin’s defense against our own intelligence community. He had met with Putin privately, and no one to this day knows what they talked about; even the translator’s notes were destroyed. If what was discussed was beneficial to the U.S., why is Trump so eager to hide it? Then there was Trump’s inexplicable abandonment of the Kurds in Syria in October 2019, leaving the way clear for Russian expansion of interest.
The reason that Putin did not invade Ukraine while Trump was president is that he knew he could get what he wanted from Trump anyway. Trump is acknowledged to have been ready to withdraw from NATO if he won reelection. The destruction of NATO is one of Putin’s goals, as is the reconstruction of the USSR, each goal feeding off the other as some NATO members are ex-Soviet states (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania).
Can we take down all those ridiculous and un-American “Trump 2024” signs and flags now?
