I don’t understand tariffs. I know they encourage Americans to buy American products, but are they also like when a church has a flea market and charges sellers $25 to sell their goods? The vendors don’t pass the charge to the customers. When a vendor asks 50 cents for an item, the customer still says, “Will you take a quarter?’ The $25 just lowers the vendor’s profits.

Who pays the tariffs? The company selling the products or the country where they are from? Our country never had an income tax until 1913. Before that, our government obtained funding through tariffs.

We must slim down our bloated government if we want to go back to tariffs for revenue.
