Letter to the editor: Racism exists mostly in media, academia, politics

After reading Jonah Goldberg’s column “In GOP embrace of truckers, some see racist double standard” (Feb. 18, TribLIVE) and then watching a Black man on social media preach against critical race theory, I have come to the conclusion that the Black man was correct when he stated that the only racism he hears about or sees comes from the media, universities and politics.

The article stated that the right has embraced the truckers’ protest and slammed the BLM/antifa protests of 2020, truckers being mostly white and BLM protesters being mostly Black. The media and professors and politicians seem to revel in causing division between Blacks and whites, while mostly ignoring the obvious Black on Black crime. There is a common thread in politics, universities and the media: stoking the flames of division.

The Black man on social media hit the nail on the head when he stated, “I operate a business in a metropolitan area. I serve Black, white, Hispanic and Asian people all day and never see any racism. The only racism I see is from the media and politicians.”

I think it’s time to hold media and politicians accountable for the division in this country.
