The dictionary definition of a patriot is as follows: “One who loves and supports his country.” You will note it does not include verbiage indicating a patriot is someone who staunchly follows their politician of choice. It is beyond my comprehension that some letter-writers here will attack their fellow citizens as “hating America” and that they themselves, by rabidly following President Trump’s latest flip-flopping orders and dictates, are the “real patriots.”

In my opinion, the real patriots of this country are the ones questioning the Trump administration, using common sense to root out the good from the bad policies and making their voices heard at every chance possible. MAGA’s blind obedience gets us parroted talking points about culture wars that are hyped up to distract the MAGA base from what is actually being done to them and this country.

I imagine there are those reading this that don’t care about due process, judicial decisions being ignored and abject cruelty being displayed and celebrated by our government. But do you care about tariffs and inflation, upcoming product shortages, the ending of agencies that actually protect and help the middle class, and the incredibly sad deterioration of American exceptionalism and leadership of the free world?
