Letter to the editor: Realities about Trump

Tribune-Review

I have some “lefty” reality for the author of the letter “Letters from left not based in reality” (May 10, TribLive). During his presidential campaign, Donald Trump often promised grocery and fuel prices would drop on “day one” of him being elected. After taking office, he stated that it is difficult to lower prices once they are at an established cost. So Trump admitted he lied to help himself get elected. Imagine that.

While campaigning, Trump stated that the stock market would crash if Kamala Harris was elected. He was right about the market tanking. Just wrong about who was responsible. The S&P 500 had the worst drop in 50 years during his first 100 days.

No president can achieve everything he promises. It can be difficult. Especially when you are focused on renaming bodies of water and holidays, annexing canals and other countries and attending sporting events and jetting to Florida to golf on the taxpayers’ dime.

We shouldn’t forget that if you plead guilty to braining an officer of the law with a flagpole, you are a patriot and political hostage because of whose name is on the flag of that pole. You are deserving of a pardon. But don’t vandalize a Tesla because then you deserving of decades in prison.

Trump tries to shred the Constitution he swore to uphold with an “I don’t know” when asked if he will abide by the laws that our Founding Fathers put in place. Reality.

These are all realities you won’t hear on Fox News or Newsmax. Unless it were President Joe Biden.
