Letter to the editor: Reaping what we’ve sowed

Of course no one wants to hear it, and most refuse to believe it, but it was written long before we planted our seeds of despair: “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” And what we are reaping is frightening.

Dorothy recognized that she was no longer in Kansas, but how many of the indoctrinated recognize they are no longer in the United States of America, the former beacon of freedom, liberty and prosperity?

How many can see that they’re in an empire in the final stages of collapse, where the rule of law is dead, from the local magistrate all the way up to the Supreme Court; the national debt of almost $28 trillion is unsustainable yet continues to grow under the “magic” of modern monetary theory; and we eagerly relinquish sacred freedoms, rights and liberties for the illusion of safety?

We have surging rates of alcohol and drug abuse, suicide, murder, abortion, incarceration, homelessness and unemployment; the middle class is being systematically destroyed by tyrants; media and politicians are so pathetically corrupt they slither alongside the serpent through our decaying garden of Eden. Soon the masks will be torn from these virulent creatures to expose them and their dark, malicious agenda.

I was blessed to be raised in the mid-20th century, a time that had its problems but still had such an abundance of joy, innocence and beauty that will never be repeated. As our constitutional foundation crumbles, our moral center rots and our republic collapses … I pray.
