I’d really like to know what Gov. Tom Wolf has against the retail food industry. Restaurants have been hit hard by the coronavirus and have operated at 25% capacity since July. They follow all the rules and regulations as established by the governor and state health secretary. In Allegheny County, they jump through additional hoops established by the county executive and Health Department.
On Sept. 8, Wolf announced that this requirement is being relaxed and restaurants will now be able to open at 50% capacity — but not for two more weeks, on Sept. 21. Why? I’ve not seen or heard of any valid reason for the delay in allowing this to happen. I guess the governor wants to keep throwing his weight around.
Currently, establishments with liquor licenses must shut off that service at 11 p.m. As of Sept. 21, that arbitrary time is changing to 10 p.m. Again, I’ve seen no facts or figures justifying this change. Probably just because the governor said so. And he’s in charge, as we’ve all seen.
It’s a good thing the governor can’t run for reelection again. He probably couldn’t get elected dog catcher right now.
