Letter to the editor: Reject liberal Pa. Supreme Court judges

In an off-year election there usually aren’t many important offices on the ballot. However, this November is an exception. The three uber-liberal Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justices Christine Donohue, Kevin Dougherty and David Wecht must not be allowed to return to the bench.

People living in Westmoreland County should remember how these three helped gerrymander the Pennsylvania voting districts a few years ago in order to offset the Republican domination in the county and win the Democrats an extra seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. By lumping the western part of the county in with the highly populated Black neighborhoods of Clairton, McKeesport, Braddock, Duquesne, Homestead, etc. in eastern Allegheny County to form District 12, they pretty much guaranteed a Democrat would win the seat. And it worked: not only a Democrat, but one I see as a radical socialist, won the next election, leaving the folks living in Penn, Manor, Adamsburg, Madison, Sutersville, Paintertown, etc. cut off with virtually no representation in the House.

If these liberal activists are voted out, the new court would consist of two Democrats and two Republicans for the next two years. What could be fairer than that? In the interest of establishing true bipartisanship, please vote “no” on retaining these three judges when you go to the polls Nov. 4. The days of radical activist judges defying the will of the people must stop. Voting these three out might send a message to others like them.
