Letter to the editor: Remember those who sacrificed for land of the free

Tribune-Review

Another Memorial Day has come and gone; nevertheless, as you read on, please take the time to think about where you would be and how your life would be changed had our brave men and women not fought to make this a free land.

It’s a shame that our government seems to have forgotten about them as they keep bringing in criminals who are trying to take your freedom away. Reflect on our sons, daughters, mothers and fathers who were, and still are, willing to give it all so people who don’t care can sit and complain about how bad they have it.

As you sit in your homes, think about our homeless vets living on the streets sleeping in tents or cardboard boxes. This, my friends, is the fault of your government. It seems if you’re an illegal immigrant and break our laws, you can get a free cellphone, health care and a plane ticket, and if you need food for your baby, we’ll take it out of the mouths of legal American citizens for you.

Reflect on that, America. God bless the men and women of our military, and may you see the reflection of your tears as they land on the ground you once called free before it’s too late.
