Regarding the letter “Whatever happened to decorum in politics?” (Dec. 18, TribLive): Professional decorum means behaving with dignity, respect and good manners appropriate for a work setting, encompassing polished conduct, suitable attire, respectful communication, self-discipline and adherence to workplace etiquette to show professionalism and build trust. The opposites of decorum include immorality, impropriety, rudeness, unsuitableness or indecency.

When Democrat Bill Clinton had sex with a 21-year-old White House intern in the Oval Office, the Democratic Party leadership and rank and file had no problem with Clinton remaining in office.

Fast forward to 2016. The same Democratic Party leadership and rank and file pretended oh so hard to be offended by a 10-year-old recording of Republican Donald Trump joking about inappropriately touching women. And so the Republican voters figuratively poked thumbs in their eyes, and kicked them as hard as they could in the groin, by voting for Trump.

Perhaps voters could expect decorum again when the Republi-Crats nominate someone other than buffoons, imbeciles and criminals as candidates.
