State Rep. Bob Brooks, R-Murrysville, recently sent a letter to his constituents intimating there were “terrible activities in some major cities” with regard to mail-in voting. He went on to support throwing out the results of the vote and not allowing the state’s electors to vote for the winner in the Electoral College vote.

What this reveals is an extreme contempt for democracy. He is proposing to overturn the will of the people because of what? If he does believe there was widespread fraud or impropriety in the election, then he should specifically state what they are. I’m assuming he doesn’t because he can’t. What he is doing is intentionally misleading constituents to undermine faith in the ideals set up by the Founding Fathers to serve the political ends of Pennsylvanian Republicans.

Brooks surely knows that the only problem with mail-in voting is it allows more people to exercise their constitutional right to vote. Republicans supported vote by mail until they realized the other party would overwhelmingly utilize this method of voting. The only fraud being committed is by Republicans perpetuating this charade.
