Letter to the editor: Republican outrage reserved for Bidens

The response by many Republicans to the plea bargain negotiated by Hunter Biden’s attorney with the Department of Justice, ending the five-year investigation of the president’s son’s wrongdoing, comes as no surprise.

Forget that the overwhelming number of DOJ charges result in plea bargains. Forget that the investigation was led by an individual appointed by former President Trump. Nothing less than an outcome that recommended death by hanging would satisfy this crowd.

I’ll be among the first to acknowledge that DOJ leaders haven’t always behaved as they should. Trump’s former Attorney General William Barr, who acted as if his duty was to serve as the former president’s personal attorney, is the most recent example. The current AG, Merrick Garland, is Barr’s opposite.

Today’s GOP shows no concern over ethically challenged Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.

They continue to defend soon-to-be serial indictee Trump.

They shy away from saying anything unkind about Pinocchio clone Congressman George Santos.

No, their outrage is reserved only for things having to do with a Biden family member, and that is then certain to cause many Republicans to have a snit. I can only imagine what their reaction might be if a video surfaces of the first lady jaywalking. Demands that she face a firing squad?
