I am a registered Republican who votes Democrat because I’m a person who likes democracy and rejects fascist theocracy, so I get the Republican mailers for elections.
Every single Republican mailer for the primary election bragged about how the candidates unapologetically defended their right to own as many bullets and guns as they wanted. Every single one.
Republicans want an America where an angry 18-year-old kid could easily purchase as many AR-15s as he wanted. They’d just rather you never point this out to anyone. It makes them a tad uncomfortable, see, and we can’t have them uncomfortable. Civility for civility’s sake with a Republican Party that told us all in 2016 they didn’t care about civility and wanted a fighter, someone who punched back twice as hard.
If you want to know how many more children the Republican Party will sacrifice on the altar of their right to own as many bullets and as many guns as they want, the answer is all of them. They will unapologetically sacrifice every single child in America before they give up their guns.
The only answer Republicans have to violence is more violence. Only more guns will keep us safe, and it is necessary we make it as easy as possible to get those guns, they want you to believe, even as our children are dying in grocery stores and churches and schools.
This is the America the Republican Party wanted.
They wanted it to be easy for anyone to buy a gun.
