Letter to the editor: Republicans need to pull together and fight
I’ve noticed that a few “Republicans” are not supporting some of our candidates who won their primary races. Sounds a little arrogant and childish to me.
Let’s get honest here: Never has our party elected a perfect candidate in a primary to run against a Democrat in the general. Perfect candidates don’t exist because candidates are human.
Now let’s get to the nitty gritty. Our party elected Dr. Mehmet Oz as our candidate for U.S. Senate and Doug Mastriano and Carrie DelRosso for governor and lieutenant governor. These candidates were elected by the majority of our party in hard fought primaries. And sometimes primary losses sting. The cowardly thing to do is take your ball and go home because your candidate didn’t win. And sadly, some will do this. The brave thing to do is dry your crocodile tears, lose your ego, find your backbone, clench your fists and get ready for battle.
We Pennsylvanians have an opportunity to turn this state red in November. But we need an electorate that has the desire and will to win. Let us not forget the few “Republicans” who bucked the party and supported Joe Biden in 2020. Look where that got us.
