I was dumbfounded after reading Harold Franklin Weaver’s letter “GOP not pro-life” (June 22, TribLIVE). His nonsensical rant attempted to label the GOP as hypocrites, but, really, paying “lip service to the fact that the Supreme Court is about to begin the process of dismantling Roe v. Wade”?

He is correct: As a conservative pro-lifer, I am wholly in favor of that. He goes on making no sense about combat weapons and rights to buy bulletproof vests, etc., and somehow trying to tie all those subjects together that attempts to paint the GOP as pro-death. (Eyes rolling.)

Well, speaking as a conservative in favor of allowing the actual birth of people instead of killing them, I can state unequivocally that the GOP is not pro-death. Every example he gives in his letter is not related to abortion and is addressed by other means — for example, how about having schools perform drills to ensure their doors are locked during a lockdown? Duh.

While I commend the Trib for printing opinions of all folks, this is one that should have been kept off the opinion page. Please spare me the spoiled lunch next time, Trib.
