Republican legislators, who’ve dominated our state Legislature for decades, intend to overturn the mail-in voting law they all voted to pass in 2019. They now plan to cast doubt on the outcome of Pennsylvania’s 2020 election results by holding an Arizona-style audit of those votes, claiming irregularities and improprieties allowed innumerable numbers of mail-in votes to be illegally counted.

These are the same state legislators who’ve been encouraging constituents to protest against school board members who’ve enacted mask mandates for this school year, claiming those board members took decisions to mask children out of parents’ hands. But once Pennsylvania’s health secretary ordered a mask mandate for all Pennsylvania K-12 schools and day care centers to reduce the cases of covid-19 in children statewide, those GOP legislators complained the secretary’s order is illegal because it takes the decision-making on mask-wearing in schools out of the hands of school board members.

These actions Republicans insist are about “protecting integrity” to me are actually the opposite.
