I am an independent, moderate voter. While I have voted for Republicans and Democrats over the years, I am inspired by the courage of a large (and growing) group of people in this year’s election: Republicans who endorse Kamala Harris for president.

Olivia Troye, who served as counterterrorism and homeland security adviser to Vice President Mike Pence, says it best to those Republicans (and independents) who are still making up their minds: “You’re not voting for a Democrat. You’re voting for democracy. You’re not betraying our party. You’re standing up for our country.”

Let’s also not forget Liz and Dick Cheney, former congressman Adam Kinzinger, Trump’s press secretary Stephanie Grisham, more than 200 former George Bush, John McCain and Mitt Romney staffers, former CIA and FBI director William Webster, Trump’s first FBI director James Comey, former director of National Intelligence John Negroponte, Trump’s White House staffer Cassidy Hutchinson, 17 former staff members of President Ronald Reagan, etc.
